2024 July update - OSXFH - Parallels

Post by lovejoy »

Hi all

Here's an update on where we are with OSXFH.

Parallels v19.3 has removed support for all OSX versions pre OSX 10.9 which means going forward they will not commit to keeping Snow Leopard running in emulation on Intel Macs or attempt to bridge over to ARM chipsets.

Currently OSXFH works fine in Parallels v19.3 + v19.4 and runs smoothly on the latest OSX 14.5 Sonoma.
We think Parallels v19 will be compatible with all future OSXs on Intel Macs - for the rest of their usable lifespans.
At some point in the future Apple will decide to make new OSXs solely compatible to new ARM chips and leave the Intel chipsets behind as they did with motorola/PPC, Intel/32-bit and now Intel/64-bit.

We do not plan on updating our versions of Parallel Desktop beyond v19.2 / v19.4. We will keep updating OSX to the latest versions released by Apple.

We will have one desktop running on the latest Parallels release so we can spot any compatibility issues from new Parallels releases, there may not be any.

Best to all
