Easy answers:
1) If you don't reach your goals, you won't get any money at all, so we could not even develop step-by-step like we can do now.
2) Kickstarter tries to hide no successfull projects more easily making a bad image
3) No way to show milestones on Kickstarter like we have now
4) and the worst point for us:
Even here after newsletter to 6500 people (!!) interested in Freehand we've didn't gain much backers at all. Now, on Kickstarter, where there're no so specialized people looking exactly for that chances are so much lower to get anything.
