2. compatible with latest mac osx
3. kiss, keep it simple
4. contain most fh commands, not all
5. can we see a trial version or video after 2.5 yrs

1.keep the quick respone like FH.

2.the "paste inside" funtion like FH.

3.the "~" key in FH is so POWERFUL for subselect object or group within a bigger group.

4.all the text edit funtions like FH.

5.better support for gradient transparency than FH.

6.scale by nemeric like CDR(not the percentage but width or length).

7.support the Asian language like Chinese.

8.able to align pages.

thanks :)

First, FH import, second MacOS Lion compatible and so on, and third leave unnecessary tools etc. off.

There´s already lot´s of good suggestions, but I think these are, imho, the most important.

It´ll be very nice if Expressive could be as more as possible like Freehand is, but that´s not necessary.

Hope we see and could buy new Expressive asap. :D

Working with freehand from version 2 and still working with Freehand 9 and MX. Hope the old Mac's keep on working till Expressive is on the market!!! Tried Illustrator, not happy with it because it scrambled my files and it is to much work to just get them as they were.
The CS6 package Adobe offers doesn't open my files anymore!
Waiting for an update within the next 9 months to get the discount is wishfull thinking i guess..
So i'm happy to see you guys are still running and thank you for all the work done!!!

Expressive:
First of all it should be able to:
1. open FH files and preserve layers, styles and keep the file as it is (no text shifting, loss of styles etc like ILL)
2. make it Freehand like! Keep it simple, grouping, selecting, drawing, symbols, export supports AI,PDF,EPS.
3. BRING IN THE LENS FUNCTION! As a cartographer this one of the tools I use to export different overlapping portions of a large file for use in other documents. Easy to place just like you move or transform an object and to preserve for future use.
4.Bring in a GIS import or make it compatible with Mappublisher
5, 6,7,etc. make it like Freehand was!

First of all thank you for developing this! What I'd like to see included is this:

• The easiness to align points are key to me, as is the editing of the vector points in a finished shape.
• The possibility to add and copy pages is essential too.
• Paste inside and being able to edit the object having been pasted inside.
• Duplicate function where you can "alt drag copy" an object and then duplicate that move for as many copies as needed.
• Easy export to Illustrator and PDF files.
• Skew and 3d transformation tools.
• Drag replacing of colour swatches.
• Easy transformation toolbox for flipping and rotating as in Freehand MX.

I think that the major thing with freehand is the vectoring tool and it's ease to use and bend an flex the individual points without the program automatically creating a group of everything as in Illustrator.

I think it has pretty much been said. If Expressive starts where MX ends everyone would be happy. Compatibility with the latest OS along with the features we have come to admire and use with Freehand are the goals for this new software.

I'm still hesitating to back the project. These little demo screencasts are very basic (too basic actually) and don't provide a feeling of what the app will look like on modern OSs (looks like some x-platform project tied into the world of win xp).

Quasado, please show us some working example running on at least Mac OS X 10.7!

Sure, see https://twitter.com/quasado latest post or go directly to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfw4IBBjzwI to see it running on Mac-OSX 10.6.8 (sorry, I didn't upgrade my system yet ;))

More stuff will follow, just trying to get through your overwhelming support thus far, sitting here and trying to answer the rest of the mails.. thanks to all!!!
