FH MX on a Microsoft Surface ? Wacom tablet/pen on Surface?

Postby omie12 » Mon May 13, 2019 9:58 pm

Has anyone yet tried running their FH 11 (MX) on a Surface laptop2 or a Surface Pro yet? (both run windows 10). I know it likely wouldn't work well on a little Surface Go since that has no graphics card, but wondering if I should get a surface laptop or Pro (which I know i can connect to my desktop large monitor via surface Dock) when i need to work on my FH. Wondering if i can replace my older win 7 tower desktop with a SMALLER more portable win 10 device and still run FH.

Also, has anyone gotten a Surface device and used a Wacom Tablet and pen off to the side, instead of the Surface pen (which works directly on the screen) ?

Just pondering my windows options as my current desktop gets older. I know I could use an 'ooold' Mac we have in the basement, but a new win machine sure would be sweet for me especially if it was portable. :)
Any thoughts from those who have gone before?

Re: FH MX on a Microsoft Surface ? Wacom tablet/pen on Surf

I'm posting an UPDATE to my own thread here, just in case someone might have my same questions some day and wind up here.
It's now Sept 27 2020. Sept last year (2019) I bought a Dell XPS 13" laptop with windows 10 Home, and hooked to it a dock and into the dock is plugged a large monitor, also a new Wacom pen and tablet. Also have a Surface style Microsoft bluetoooh keyboard to use when I want a larger keyboard with a numbers pad etc.
FreeHand MX works GREAT on windows 10! It's working even better than it did for years on my windows 7 desktop.
So, if you want to run Freehand 11 on a BRAND NEW computer you could use the windows FH version and run it on a win10 'pro' or 'home' OS. This is also handy to know if you just need to open older FH files and can't keep an ancient Mac with SnowLeopard around anymore.
But I'm doing ALL my daily work on FH now on my little Dell XPS 13" laptop. It's running like a CHAMP for me and of course it is free.
FreeHand forever! :P
