Font problems (Windows)

Postby FFH Thü » Mon Jan 03, 2011 12:37 am

The fonts list isn't updating when changing printers (Windows)

This issue is specific to the Windows operating systems. If when opening a file you are presented both the missing font and missing printer dialogs you may run into a problem where your fonts are not displaying correctly.

This is due to FreeHand checking for fonts prior to checking for the printer. On the windows platform when using a PostScript printer you will have additional fonts available in the fonts list. So in the event that you receive a file from another machine with a different printer than your default printer you could see this. Another scenario would be if your default printer is a non PostScript (ink jet style) printer.

If you do receive both the missing font and printer dialogs you should do the following:

Close the file and do not save the changes.
Open the file.
When presented the Missing Fonts dialog select OK.
When presented the Printer Selection select your printer.
Close and Save the file.
Open the file once again.

This time you should not receive dialogs for missing fonts or printers.
