Freehand Feather out boarder

Can freehand create a feather out boarder on an irregular shape object?

If i have a start object. and i want to create a boarder run 3 mm away along the edge of the object.

I been manually drawing it and just visualize the distance an edit till It is approx equal distance all around.

If anyone know any easy way please let me know.

It sounds like you are doing it right. I might have made a clone of the inside object and expanded it to the 3mm. Then I would select both and create a Blend between two colors. The outside color would have to match the color of the paper (or your background) because FreeHand doesn't handle true transparency like Illustrator does. That would give you the feather-out border effect.
