Illustrator CS 6 won't open Freehand Files
Re: Illustrator CS 6 won't open Freehand Files
Adobe joins Apple in cutting out dead wood. Apple thinks it's a good idea leaving 40 % Snow Leopard users behind and keeps them off of iCloud. I don't understand what's going on in the heads of those who has to decide such questions! I don't feel like dead wood!

I did exactly that.Ted wrote:I guess if I upgrade from CS5 to CS6 I will have to retain CS5 just for my old Freehand documents.
Maybe it's a 64bit thing, because Illustrator CS6 is 64bit only.

All Adobe has done as far as I'm concerned is ensure that they won't be getting any cash from me to upgrade Illustrator for a while...

Hi Guys, I've been hanging onto CS3, is it still possible to upgrade to CS5? Are there still upgrades of Creative Suite 5 available? Any ideas? Think I need to get as up to date as possible without ditching Freehand, got thousands of files.

I use CS4 and will probably never use a version above that. I purchased CS5.5 last year. I could not copy paste FH objects into Photoshop anymore. And many new "features" in ID and PS (which are not optional) annoyed me so much, I went back to CS4 after some months.

Thanks Thü, May have a search for CS4 then, probably does all I need it to.

Oh -- but you can buy CS 6 for a reduced price. Gee, thanks Adobe. Hate to say it, but this is our payback for giving Adobe a headache. When did you say Adobe will start those 4 meetings with the FreeHand developers? Seems reinstating FH file support might be their first suggestion. I have a funny feeling Adobe won't hear that or anything else.

We might only have to retain AI 5.1, but good luck uninstalling the rest of CS 5 (or 5.5) and not losing some piece needed for AI to actually keep working.
