Illustrator CS 6 won't open Freehand Files

Thats bad...... Freehand Import is no longer available in Illustrator CS6......

Seriously? Someone reported earlier that FreeHand 10 files were not opening in CS6. This is a big problem if you are correct but are you working with a beta-version of CS6?

i can confirm that as well. trying importing fh11 into the trial version of Illustrator CS6 and it didnt work. oh well, need to keep CS5 then.

Will the trial version open other formats like svg, cdr, dxf? I'm concerned because FFH has been in contact with Adobe, so this is a surprise. Adobe still lists the FreeHand format on their site: http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/s ... rator.html

i just tried to move the fhimport.aip plugin from Illustrator CS5 plug-ins folder into CS6 and the plugin is not recognized on Illustrator CS6. fh11 file is an 'unknown format and cannot be opened'

I wish I had an answer to this missing FH import plugin in CS6 but haven't heard any official word on it. There are several ongoing discussions on the Adobe forums as to why and how this has happened so add your opinions:

It seems that Adobe doesn't like us old Freehand users. I guess if I upgrade from CS5 to CS6 I will have to retain CS5 just for my old Freehand documents.
