Need my old FreeHand files

Post by p_allan »

Will any of the substitute applications discussed here open old FreeHand files? I have a lot of them that I use over again and don't want to take the time to redo them.

Outside of Illustrator, nothing else opens a native FreeHand file. Some have tried to save a FreeHand file as EPS and then import into other applications. This is why so many of us are keeping FreeHand installed and alive in OSX 10.6, or on a separate OS partition, or running in some form of emulation. It's a tricky dance at the moment.

My files are exported to Adobe Illustrator 88 (*.ai) or PDF document and I can to open it in Illustrator, Corel, Inkscape, Photoshop or Freehand again. If my work are linear I don't have any problem, but my work has any degradee it is open but many sections of my degradee. In PDF format it has a less problem.
