FreeHand import plugin for CS6
Re: FreeHand import plugin for CS6
It's a good discussion on that forum. Having a third party to make the conversion tool is better than Adobe doing it, not that they would.
A good portion of users would not use Illustrator anyway but for those who do or need the files to bring into InDesign, this looks promising and will be interesting to see how it unfolds. I wrote the developer to ask more.
By the way, I posted earlier that another separate developer is doing a conversion tool via Von Glitschka's tweet. Looks like competition! viewtopic.php?f=4&p=3090#p3090

Good news. Whatever is done to keep alive FreeHand - for those who need it - is perfect
Re: FreeHand import plugin for CS6
I found this script on Adobe webpage. It is for Illustrator4. It converts FreeHand files to Illustrator. I know nothing about script but maybe this could help those who want to create a script for CS6 :

Re: FreeHand import plugin for CS6
Creating a file importer for FreeHand files will be a challenge. The file format is based quite tightly on the structure of the objects used by the application in memory. Without the original source code, you'd have to guess at what each individual byte means. It could be done, but it will be complicated.

Yes of course
Re: FreeHand import plugin for CS6 + CC
A new conversion plugin is out and it converted my native FreeHand files into AI-CS6 and AI-CC directly. It's every bit as good as Illustrator's old converter and in some cases was an improvement.
Third-party developer, Tensai, has a couple of YouTube videos up here:
Features: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BLB8x6l7T0
Install: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwh_YqT2qKc
Cost is $50 but looks like a discount for FFH members might be available. Installation needs a copy of Illustrator CS3, CS4, or CS5 to access some coding.
