I'm a long time fan of SketchBook Pro a pixel sketching app.
Today I found Autodesks new Alias Sketch 2011 which is a combined pixel and vector illustration app. SketchBook Pro on steroids.

Take a look at this video.

Some 40 seconds into the movie he starts drawing with the vector tools and at 1.25 he does some gradient fills. Wow!
