Updating FreeHand by creating Xtra extentions?

Adobe has a free FreeHand Xtra Development Kit, please dear programmers it's time to do the work (i'm a designer only).

So, would it be possible to extend FH with for example better PDF export from a Xtra plugin?

I took a look at this. Good idea, but it's just to extend FreeHand as it is today (with Xtras and such things), not update the application code itself. Thanks for pointing to the page though.
