Slow and staggering

Postby FFH Thü » Wed Dec 05, 2018 7:18 pm

Well. The whole Parallels experience for me is not so great. That whole system is like slow responding, mouse and windows lagging, difficult to describe. Its just not so liquid to work on. And I have the newest fastest Mac Mini with 32 GB RAM.

Anyone else having that experience?

I think Parallels tools is not installed correctly
Is there a little yellow warning triangle in the upper right side of windowbar?
Reinstall Parallels Tools
run it from the 'Actions Menu / Reinstall Parallels Tools command
Or click on the yellow icon.
This tool bridges between the 2 operating systems and if not installed properly will create havoc.

Hi thanks for your message.

I reinstalled it two times now, but its still the same. Very slow. Can not work with that.

But I dont see any Tools icon on top right.

Also strange to toggle between host and guest parallels says "control - arrow" but I need to do option-control and after that, control-arrow works. have the same problem within FH, before hot keys like shift or command work, I have to hit around the option key somehow. (bluetooth magic keyboard)

I try and try. But it is so difficult to work in it. Not only is it slow, the keys are not working right, but trying to catch a path handle is a thing of pure luck. Mostly it does not work and something else gets selected instead.

I also dont get to understand the preferences of parallels. Sometimes there appear control settings for CPU and the like, but it says, change only when virtual machine is not running. But then when OSXFH is not running, the is no option for control settings, only preferences, in the parallels menu, and thos are different, do not include CPU etc.

This is the official comment of Parallels. So why did I buy OSXFH if it is not compatible and runs so slow its not very usable, objects often get distorted on screen?

So far I got to the point as to identify the problem lies within screen resolution mainly because if retina resolution.

I made sure to use the same resolution in guest OSX monitor preferences like in parallels and this made things better. Still staggering and tendency to mouse inprecision when trying to fetch path handles. But it is definitely better now.

So far I can say, it has a lot to do with the screen size choosen for the virtual OSXFH.

Sluggish behaviour and mouse pointer precision are better for me now after I changed screen size to 2048x1536 or 2560x1600 but this depends on your display of course.

Generally it seems important, to not change screen size by dragging Parallels window, but only set it from the Preference > Display panel.
